Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Cookie! This picture is a little dark but it's a good picture of you! You have a nice smile! This was from last December which is the reason for the turtle neck. We don't get together very often and it's so nice when we do. You always make me feel good and loved. That's a wonderful trait of yours. You're a good sister-in-law and I'm so thankful for you. I wish for you a wonderful day today. I love you.
Lord, thank You for Cookie. She adds to our family in sweet and wonderful ways. Bless her on this day and every day.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Bill! You'll never catch me in age but you're getting right up there too! Boy it doesn't seem possible, does it? I hope you're feeling a little better now and are able to celebrate your birthday with family. Have a great day today. I love you.

Belated Happy Birthday, Vel! Don't ask me how I missed your birthday. I'm very sorry. You're a very good sister-in-law and I love you too.

Lord, thank You for Bill and Vel. Please touch their bodies. Draw them close to You. Lead them and guide them. Give them a fresh touch of Your Love.

Dandy Lion

This lion was at the fair. There was a free show, which was a tiger show, but they also had this lion. I think he was to attract attention. I got a pretty good picture of him.
The tiger show, to me, was so boring! I was telling Jerry about the show and was interrupted by Bella.
Here is something like the conversation:
Me: The tiger show was soooo...
Bella: Oh yeah, Grandpa, it was AWESOME!!! You should have been there!
Thank You Lord, for our grandchildren, and their perspective which is so fresh and real.

Fair

This is Bella on the roller coaster! My camera was too slow or the roller coaster was too fast...so I didn't get Sydney and Haleigh in the picture! It was a fun ride! They rode it three or four times.
I was with three of my granddaughter's at the fair. They had a good time riding lots of rides. This was kid's day so they got to ride at a reduced rate. It's more fun now because they're big enough to ride most of the rides. It was a very hot day but there was a nice breeze so it was bearable.
Lord, thank You for a fun, safe afternoon.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary Tim and Shauna! A lot of changes have come into your lives, especially in the past few years. Now you're back in Canada. I think you may even be moving into your new house. Well ... new to you. It's exciting! I hope you take time to celebrate each other and the fact that you've been married...oh my goodness...23 years already! Did I figure that right? Have a wonderful day and year. I love you!
Lord, thank You for Tim and Shauna. Thank You for the commitment they have made to You and to each other. Bless them together and bless their marriage.

Camping in the Backyard

Granddaughter's camping in the backyard! This is the tent we bought for family camp that we didn't get to use. They came up with the idea of camping in our backyard. I brought their shoes in with me. Otherwise they might disappear if we get another visit by the raccoon! Our neighbors bird feeder just disappeared! The whole thing! Yikes...I hope our granddaughter's don't disappear. Just kidding. I'll be close by.
Lord, thank You for fun times with granddaughter's. Please keep Your Hand upon them tonight.

Well, the girls made it until about 2:30! They had gotten a little chilly so they came in and now I'm wide awake! Oh well.

Frustration

Yesterday Sydney and I were trying to add a new counter to her blog and couldn't get it so I said I'd try it on mine. Well, you can see how far I got and now I can't even get rid of it! Please excuse it and ignore it. I've done it before but they keep changing things. Sydney has had one before too. So we're both frustrated.
Lord, give me patience, please.

Huckleberries!

I love huckleberries. I love to pick huckleberries. Huckleberries are wild blueberries. They're smaller then blueberries but they have more flavor and so are soooo good! In my younger days I would go out to a woods with a friend and pick bucket's of huckleberries. Sometimes my kids went too. We'd pick enough for us to eat and also to put into the freezer. Today I got a package in the mail from my niece, Heidi! What fun it was opening it! This picture shows what was in the package. From left to right back row: huckleberry taffy, huckleberry syrup, huckleberry scone mix; middle row l - r: huckleberry cocoa mix, huckleberry tea, huckleberry jam; front row l - r: huckleberry brittle, and huckleberry lollipops! Jerry and I each just ate a taffy, mmmmmm!
Lord, thank You for huckleberries! Thank You for thoughtful nieces. Thank You for Heidi!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Andrew! Time keeps flying by. My first grandchild is another year older! 24? Oh my! Where has the time gone? I have so many memories of you as a child. Now you're all grown up and working at a job you love...in a climate you love...in a state you love. I don't get to see you very often any more, but you can be sure you're in my thoughts and prayers always. I wish for you a very, very happy, happy birthday! I love you.
Lord, thank You for Andrew. He's a fine young man with so much promise. Help him to look to You for strength and guidance as he looks forward to marriage and a whole new chapter in his life. I love him, and You love him so much more!

Happy Birthday!

Hey Tyler! Happy Birthday! It's hard to believe it's here again already! So now you're 17! You've had a very busy summer and I've hardly seen you, even though you live right next door! But, you've been on mission trips and doing other things that keep you busy. Now school will soon be starting so you'll be home but busy with school work. Life goes on! I love you, Tyler, and so does God, even more!

Lord, thank You for Tyler. He's a good kid with good intentions and plans. Please guide him as he makes decisions. Help him to understand that today's choices will affect him for the rest of his life. Please keep Your Hand upon him.

Jerry

Jerry keeps busy most of the time. They're not tough, strenuous jobs, but he keeps things looking good around.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping Jerry active and happy.

Flowers

Day Lillie's planted this year by the road and now blooming! Thanks Pam and Gene. All that hard work paid off! I took the picture across the ditch so it's not very close up but you can see them, I think. There were several more blooming too.

I don't know what these are! Do you? They are in the middle of a flower bed. They are so dainty and pretty.

My tipped over half barrel spilling impatiens out is looking now the way I wanted it to look for the open house last month! Oh well, there were so many people, maybe they didn't notice there weren't many flowers blooming.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for the beautiful flowers in my yard.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Matthew! I think you're a man now, aren't you? 21! And a fine young man you are: hard working, serious student, fun, respectful, good looking, loving to your grandparents!, and a whole lot more! This picture I have here is a couple of years old but it's best most recent photo I have. I hope you have a great day today. I love you, Matthew!
Lord, thank You for Matthew. He's a very good person. Please be with him in his studies, his work, his friends. Keep Your Hand upon him. This is the time in his life when serious decisions are made that will affect him for his entire life. Guide him. Help him to look to You for help in making life choices. I love Matthew and You love him even more!

Fire!

I guess you can see here what Jerry and I did this afternoon! We burned a huge brush pile! Of course it's more fun when other family members are here to help out and I even have hot dogs to roast in the hot coals, and marshmallows, but we didn't want to wait any longer so we burned it today. A big job done. Oh, it's still burning and will probably have live coals until tomorrow. But it's a good day's work.

Lord, thank You for giving us strength and energy to do this big job. Thank You for helping us keep it under control. This is another portion of Your Creativity and Power.

Dahlia Hill

Jerry and I went for a ride this afternoon in the MG. It's a beautiful day for a ride. We stopped at Dahlia Hill...I just happened to have my camera handy! These flowers are all dahlia's! And there are even more!
Heavenly Father, You are the Creator! I praise You!
