Latest Style?!

I laughed when I saw this woman in blue jeans and high heels! Yes, she was a woman, not a teenager. She had her two children with her, about 5 & 7 years of age. (They called her mama.) She was talking on her cell phone when I snapped this picture and as you can see had her back to me. I just couldn't resist this photo op! I guess I'm really out of the loop!
Now here's something to show you that I'm not as rigid as I used to be...! Late in the night, a few nights ago, I was chatting on fb with a young man who used to attend our church when he was a boy. We both wrote on various subjects. Then I asked if he goes to church. His answer was that he hasn't been to church in a long time. So I invited him to come to ours again. Among other things he said he'd have to buy some new clothes. I assured him he wouldn't. "Jeans are fine," I said. "Anything goes!" That came from me! I've not worn pants to church on Sunday mornings yet...always either a dress or skirt. So, you see, I'm making progress!
Lord, thank You for diversity. Thank You for youth. Thank You for Jacob. Help him to see that You are real and to see his need of going to church for worship, for learning about You, and for making good relationships.

Last Fling of the Season!

Autumn has arrived! Today we went for a ride in the MG...last ride of the season! It's time to put the little convertible away for the winter. It's sad and it's hard. We enjoy it so much!
The flowers on Dahlia Hill will soon die, the bulbs will be dug out and stored until spring.
We stopped at DaddyO's for lunch. Excellent! We ate outside in the warm sun shine. It was so fun and the food was so delicious! The waiter took our picture. Between us, behind some plants is our mg...too bad we can't see it better. Click on the picture and you'll see it really is there!
Lord, thank You for good times, blue skies, lovely flowers, the blessings of a fun car, and the reality that we are Your children! We are so blessed!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Max! Oh my goodness, you're fifteen already! You're quite a sportsman! Swimming, football, baseball, la crosse, and what else? I'm very proud of you and wish we could watch some of your games. I really don't even know what la crosse is, sorry. This is last year's photo so it says Grayson. Sorry about that too. I hope we can get down to visit you soon. Today you take your learner's test for your driving permit. Yikes! Just kidding, I know you'll do well and that you'll be a responsible driver. I wish for you a very happy birthday. I love you, Max.
Lord, thank You for Max. He's a fine boy. Please keep Your Hand upon him. He's so involved in school and sports and youth group. Help him as makes new friends and adjusts to their new home. I love him, and You love him even more!

Stick Bug!

I'm a nature lover as you are figuring out. Jerry came in and said there was a stick bug out on the pole building door. I grabbed my camera and ran out (in my pajamas and house coat) to get a picture before he left. I don't know what his real name is. I left the door knob in the picture so you can compare him with it to know a little better what his size is.
Lord, You are the Creator! I praise You! I love You.

Hot Air Balloons!

It takes a lot of people to rein in a balloon!

This weekend is the hot air balloon festival in our town. This is a beautiful day for balloons.

Thank You for the fun and color and wonder! I love You, Lord.

Grasshopper?

This green funny looking grasshopper was on the railing of our porch this afternoon. So of course I took his picture.
Lord, I praise You because You are the Creator.

# 33!

Yesterday Jerry and I went to watch a volley ball game! Why, you ask? Haleigh was playing again! This was our first game to get to watch and we were quite impressed with these girls and especially with Haleigh! She's the smallest girl on the team but she's also the most determined and put forth the most effort! She's #33. The pictures are kind of dark but I think you can pick her out. In the fourth picture she's the girl leaning backward.
Lord, thank You for volley ball, thank You for team sports. It's so good for kids. Please watch over Haleigh. She plays so hard. Help their team to become a winning team because of their good team effort.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary, Christy and Sean!
I can't believe it...I don't have a picture of just the two of you! So here are two separate pictures from the last time you were here. You both look so happy! That's a good sign! Today is 16 years anniversary...I think! Will you get to go out or since you've just moved is it too soon? Hmmm. Well, Happy Anniversary! I love you.
Lord, bless Christy and Sean with Your Presence. Thank You for them. Please keep them close in their marriage.

New washing machine and dryer.

This has been quite a week! My washing machine died on Monday. It was sad and it was definitely final. We went shopping, found just what we wanted, and went home to wait for Saturday when the new one would be delivered. Next morning the phone rang...there was a mistake!!! Rather than waiting for weeks we decided to go shopping again. Found just what we wanted for the second time and it would be delivered on Saturday. We crossed our fingers and went home to wait while the pile of dirty clothes grew!
Here we are on Saturday...this big truck brought our new washing machine and dryer! I could just see that semi truck coming in our long, windy driveway, with a bridge to cross!

Oh, okay, this little vehicle with a front load dolly on it brought the new machines from the road to our house! That's a relief!

Here he comes! I sure hope it doesn't tip off!

This is the old washer and dryer. We downsized when we moved here and we really don't have a lot of space so I've always wanted a stacked set. We didn't know about them when we bought these 12 or 13 years ago.

Here is the new set of stacked washer and dryer. I'm washing my first load...well, now I'm drying my first load. I've never had a front loader machine before but I think I'm going to like it. It takes much larger loads and after not being able to wash clothes all week, I had a very large load of whites to put in it. A sample of soap came with it which I used. I have to go the store now to buy a different detergent than what I have, it can still be Tide but because it's a front loader it has to be a certain Tide.
Thank You, Lord, for my new washing machine and dryer. They look like they will service us well. Thank You for the prompt delivery and set up.

Volley Ball!

My Haleigh...the volley ball player! She's in 7th grade now and is loving volley ball. This was at their first game. I'm proud of her.
Lord, thank You for giving Haleigh strength and stamina to play volley ball. Help her to learn good sportsmanship and team playing. Watch over her and bless her with Your Presence.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Richard! Here you are with some birthday balloons...okay, they were Mother's last March! But it still fits! Today you're an unbelievable 75! Where have the years gone? You've always been a great big brother to me! Even when we were kids, I always looked up to you. And today...oh my goodness, you've been a huge help to me with the newsletter! Thanks so much for being my big brother. I love you!
Lord, thank You for Richard. He's been a very good big brother to me. He's a very good person and very talented. Please bless him with Your Presence. Keep Your Hand upon him. You love him, Lord, and so do I.

Pig Roast

Two very good friends, Lena and Muriel. I don't know what they're discussing but it looks interesting.

Wilma, Muriel, and Jim are facing the camera. We're so happy Jim and Muriel made it to the pig roast this year. They didn't make it last year and we missed them. Jim just turned 96 years of age! I told him I was so glad they came and he said, "I wouldn't have missed it for anything!"

If you look closely you'll see a boy up in this tree! He's far up and I had a hard time getting the picture! Jeremy has moved with his family and they were just here visiting for the weekend. I'm so glad they were able to come to the pig roast.

This good looking relaxed man is my Jerry!

Our hosts, Pat & Cherilyn, own this pontoon and took anyone, who wanted to go, for a ride.

The weather was perfect for a day at the lake! Haleigh, Sydney and Bella are sitting on the raft. There were lots of kids there and they all really had fun!

Bella and friend, Olivia, are on the raft. Sydney and Haleigh are in the water.

Yesterday we went to a pig roast that some friends put on every year on the Saturday before Labor Day. This is the 26th consecutive year they've put it on. It's for all their relatives and friends! Yeah! We're friends! We took our granddaughter's with us, Haleigh, Sydney, and Isabella. There were around 100 people there! It was hard to get a definite count but 100 is close.
Thank You, Lord, for the beautiful weather and for the fun our granddaughter's had in the water. Thank You for all the friends who were at the pig roast.

Wishing Well

Okay, I did it again! Backwards... We had this well given to us by our good neighbors, who live behind us. Sadly, they are moving! The Real Estate people told them they need to get rid of this well in their yard! I love it! They asked if we'd like it in our yard! Yes! It's very heavy and you can see Ted did the most and hardest work! It has a wooden bucket hanging in it. I'd like to plant some vines that will grow up and a round.
Lord, thank You for yard decorations to make our homes attractive. Thank You for our neighbors and friends.

Sleeping Beauties!

This visit the girls decided to sleep in the sun room. So here they are, my sleeping beauties!
Lord, thank you for my beautiful granddaughters.

Going for a Ride!

We went for a ride in the MG Roadster again today. It's a beautiful day for a ride! We stopped at Dahlia Hill again and again I got out my camera. These flowers are amazing! So many different kinds and sizes of Dahlia's.
Lord, I praise You because You are the Creator!
